People seek counseling because they want a supportive, objective, and non-judgmental environment, where the counselor and client develop a therapeutic relationship fostering positive change. Personal growth builds life satisfaction, and Dr. Susan provides this atmosphere while drawing from treatment models that are clinically proven. Depending on the individual needs of each client, she may incorporate traditional and holistic methods for optimal mental health. We need to learn how to see, tap into, and use what we already have by incorporating natural methods.
Coming into counseling for the first time can be unsettling in itself. We understand it takes courage to push through the uncomfortable feelings and take the initial first step to come to your appointment. We provide you a private, quiet, and peaceful setting to help you feel more at ease.
Your first session is an assessment, where you, and Dr. Susan, collaboratively identify what issues you want to address, set goals, and a develop a plan of action, all the while considering you as a unique individual. Dr. Susan is trained in several adjunct protocols that can be integrated as supporting services to counseling, which speads up you ability to reach your goals. In addition to specialized trauma protocols, she is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, POSITIVE INTELLIGENCE® and HeartMath® Programs. Dr. Susan draws from therapeutic counseling models she believes will be most helpful to you. Primarily, but not exclusively, she draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Systemic and Solution-Focused Therapy models, including Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). The use of RRT and ART are innovative approaches that resolves the impact of trauma and/or embedded problems at a much faster rate that traditional therapeutic models.
Couples and Families seek counseling in order to develop better communication skills, resolve conflict, and and live in harmony in their relationships. Dr. Susan draws from therapy models she believes will be most helpful to the particular couple she is counselling. She will draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Systemic and Solution-Focused Therapy models. In some cases, she finds it helpful to incorporate Hypnotherapy, Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
